July
Thursday, July 17 at 6:30 pm. The Wild Coffee Committee meeting at Garden Club of DeLand, 865 Alabama Avenue to review progress on identifying and labeling Florida Natives and Florida Friendly plants around the clubhouse building.
* Please Note: There has been a change in July date for the Downtown Planters. Maintenance for planters will be on Saturday, July 19…. Not on the 12th. Start time is usually 7:15 or 7:30 in this hot period. The design is holding up well for the most part. Frequent rain has helped along with good selection and planting. Howry still has some irrigation glitches but the city is aware and monitoring it. We have replaced a few plants on the north and south west pots. Our test run for begonia propagation is working out somewhat for pedestal begonias.
The plan is to have only jasmine in alternating pots with begonias and Dichondra silver falls or jasmine. The various odd plants of zinnias, celosia and snap dragons have been removed to give a more consistent design. The stray flowers had a messy look so we tidying up the alternating pattern.
The jasmine and dichondra will need untangling and some trimming on the 19th. We may also do some more begonia propagation if the large plants hold up in the heat.
Thanks to all planter maintenance people. The boulevard looks awesome!
